How to upgrade?
Purchase in 2011 afterwards
If you have purchased your BookDrive in 2011, you will receive the dongle free of charge. Please contact either Atiz directly or the seller from which you've purchased your system to receive your dongle.
Purchase prior to 2011
If you have purchased your BookDrive during 2006 and 2010, you can still update your software to Capture 5.1 and Editor Pro 4.3.8 (last pre-dongle release) free of charge.
We've been providing free software updates to BookDrive customers since 2006. The functionality offered by our original software that came in 2006 vs. what we offer today 2012 (6 years later) is uncomparable.
In the recent releases, we've added some cool new features such as Instant crop, Instant rotate, Live view, as well as ability to use the latest Canon EOS cameras, to name a few. We hope you've enjoyed those.
So you don't really need to upgrade if you are already happy with such version. But if you want the new functionalities in Capture 5.5 and Editor Pro 5.0 (post-dongle release), the cost to upgrade is USD500 per license per software.
You can purchase the dongle either from Atiz (email info@atiz.com) or from your seller. Accepted methods of payment are wire transfer and credit card (through Paypal).
FAQs
-
How will future upgrades be handled using the dongle and cost?
If you upgrade Capture software, the dongle you receive will be able to unlock current and future versions of Capture 5 such as, v5.5, v5.6, v5.7, and so on that we release throughout 2012.
Likewise with Editor, the dongle you receive will be able to unlock current and future versions of Editor 5 such as v5.0, v5.1 and later throughout 2012.
-
Will you continue to support upgrades for units older than 2011?
Yes. Customers who bought any BookDrive back from 2006 still can upgrade to this 2012 release.
-
If we are happy with the way our system runs....no need to upgrade to dongle?
No need to upgrade if you are happy with the current functionalities of the software and don't need the new features available with the 2012 release such as built-in export tool, PDF/A support for example.
If the improvements in Capture v5.5 and Editor v5.0 are not compelling enough for you, you may decide to upgrade later when Capture v5.6 or Editor v5.1 come out and have new improvements that you deem compelling.
But if you think you will end up upgrading anyway, why wait? After all, the cost is going to be the same ($500 per software) whenever you decide to upgrade. Upgrade now and benefit now.
